1/2-pint plug and 1 gallon pot

Light: Sun-partial
Soil: Dry-medium
Height: 3-4'

Description: This beautiful fountain-shaped grass pairs really well with many prairie wildflowers and is excellent for gardens and prairie restorations. TLC favorite! Takes a few years to mature, so be patient with the 1/2-pint plug size, this one's worth it.  If you're not patient, try planting the 1 gallon size for a more mature plant. If you put this plant on the edge of a full-sun garden (or throughout), it will be gorgeous!

Attracts: Occasionally, the foliage is eaten by grasshoppers, including Mermiria bivitatta (Two-Striped Slant-faced Grasshopper) and Syrbula admirabilis (Handsome Grasshopper). Prairie Dropseed is the obligate host of two uncommon leafhoppers: Aflexia rubranura (Red-Tailed Leafhopper) and Memnonia panzeri. The seeds are eaten by sparrows and other songbirds from late summer into winter; these species include the Field Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, and Slate-Colored Junco.
