Description: The flowers of Prairie Loosestrife are yellow and each of the five petals come to a point at the tip. The leaves are only a quarter inch wide and are tapered at both the base of the leaf and the tip. Prairie Loosestrife also produces a rounded yellow fruit from the flowers. It can be found in undisturbed, and especially calcareous, high-quality wetlands including shores, marshes, fens, bogs and swamps. Prairie Loosestrife has special value to native bees. Despite the similar common names, Prairie Loosestrife is not related to the non-native, invasive Purple Loosestrife.
