Description: American Plum is a fast growing tree that will sucker freely to create thickets. Excellent snow-white spring blooms in April-May. Fall color is maroon-red. The highly edible fruit has a sweet flesh and sour skin that makes for tasty preserves.

Attracts: The nectar and pollen of the flowers attract bees, various flies, and other insects. Bee visitors include honeybees, bumblebees, Little Carpenter bees (Ceratina spp.), Cuckoo bees (Nomada spp.), Halictid bees, and Andrenid bees. A variety of insects feed on the wood, bark, sap, leaves, buds, flowers, and fruits of Wild Plum.
