Artist Statement: A local artist whose photography conveys an appreciation for the diversity of nature. Each image in this series captures a different essential element of the region’s rural, scenic, and ecological heritage:
Wild Viburnum thrive along forest edges and wetlands. They provide critical ecosystem functions by anchoring soil against erosion, feeding native bumblebees and butterflies and supplying energy-rich berries for migrating songbirds in late summer.
Ultimately, these photos tell a story of regional preservation—bridging the artistic beauty of nature with the critical need to save the actual landscapes that inspired them.
I invite the viewer to ponder the stories inherent in each image.
