Description: A warrior sedge, great replacement for invasive reed canary grass! Absolutely beautiful when massed together, this sedge will form a tight knit base that wards off invasive plants. Hairy-fruit sedge is rhizomatous; it can spread aggressively and therefore may not be suitable for small landscape plantings but can be a wonderful wetland restoration sedge. It prefers full sun and wet soil conditions. It is a cool-season, actively growing during the spring and fall when soil temperatures are cool.
