Views of the fields serve as reference for many of her paintings. She is also influenced by global environmental concerns around degradation, depletion and development of our lands and waters. The impact of these threats to wildlife and human existence are known but often forgotten by those seeking short-term gain.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eJan earned fine art degrees at The Ohio State University and San Jose State University in ceramics and sculpture. She spent 20 years as a graphic designer in a college marketing department and now concentrates on painting.
