Artist Statement: This year my work transitioned into an intuitive practice guided by emotion, instinct, and the present moment. Working with acrylic on smooth panels, I build multiple layers of transparent color to explore the relationality of the natural world. My practice is informed by reading and observation, focusing on interactions between the sentient beings around us—from plants, animals, and fungi down to the microscopic organisms in the soil. Taking into account the supporting influences of air and water, sunlight, minerals, organic matter and soil biology I hope to reflect the intelligence and interconnectedness of our surroundings.
