During heavy downpours, rain barrels fill faster than a garden hose overflow can output excess water. Water can overflow through the top and puddle.
The wide overflow upgrade has double the capacity of a garden hose and will channel away huge amounts of rainwater to help prevent puddling.
An internal 90 degree PVC (1-1/2") pipe -- connected to an external 6 foot long wide hose (supplied), will channel excess water away more efficiently. Dimensions: 23" diameter by 33-42" tall.
