Artist Statement: Silvie Sturm-Meyer is a full-time artist based in Lake Geneva, WI, specializing in wood carving and painting alongside her work as a passionate beekeeper. She is an active exhibiting member of both Gallery 223 and Lemon Street Gallery, where she regularly shares her work.
Being a tree lover since childhood, wood was the medium that touched her: "Wood resonates with my senses and emotions. Using wood as canvas is time consuming yet rewarding process. I carve my image first and enhancing with color after. Many of my creations are on reclaimed wood – breathing new life and purpose to it. As a beekeeper I’m creating log hives for my bees to live in."
Deeply rooted in her local community, Silvie approaches her art as a purpose-driven journey, using her gifts to contribute meaningfully to those around her.
My inspiration comes from nature, where we can see the evidence of the work of the greatest creator of all – God. To take care of nature is our God-given responsibility, being set ‘in the garden’ as keepers. (The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. Genesis 2:15) Art of The Land is a beautiful event to be part of. Enjoy!
